We like to think that everyone at Zen Contracting is pretty down to earth. We enjoy building things, solving problems and working with good people. You won't find us sipping champagne while we help design your closet, and we don't believe building a great home needs to feel complicated or exclusive.
What we do believe is that good work makes the world a better place to live. Homes are where people raise families, gather with friends and build their lives, and we take seriously the responsibility that comes with building and improving them.
Zen Contracting grew from the belief that homeowners deserved a better construction experience. Poor communication, disorganization and unclear expectations shouldn't simply be accepted as part of working with a contractor.
So we built our company around doing things differently: thoughtful planning, straightforward communication, fair dealing and people who take responsibility for their work. Whether we're building a custom home, an addition or a major renovation, our goal is to do good work, treat people well and leave behind something we're proud to have built.

Zen received his bachelor's degree in Construction Management in 2011 and began his career working on large commercial construction projects before moving to the mountains of Western North Carolina in 2013.
Zen Contracting was founded with many of the same principles that are standard in commercial construction: careful planning, organized project management, clear communication and accountability. We bring that professional approach to residential construction while remaining a local, down-to-earth company.
Today, our team manages custom homes, additions and major renovations throughout Western North Carolina. We're large enough to manage complex projects professionally, but still small enough that our clients know the people responsible for building their homes.

Good construction is about more than the finished product. It takes careful planning, experienced people, attention to detail and clear communication from beginning to end.
We believe our clients should understand what we're building, what it will cost, where their project stands and what happens next. When challenges come up—and in construction they sometimes do—we communicate, find solutions and keep moving forward.
